So in the above case you d want to put that iron on vinyl shiny side down on your cutting mat to cut out your mirrored design.

If you get nothing on the page then you know that is not printable side and that is the side that goes down on the mat.
Generally adhesive vinyl has the colorful vinyl on one side and is backed by a paper carrier sheet that is most often white.
Whatever mat and machine you are using put your adhesive vinyl paper backing side down onto your mat so the colored vinyl side is facing up see image below.
